Periodic CPC
The Driver CPC (DCPC) is short for “Driver Certificate
of Professional Competence”. It has been introduced
to the UK through EU Directive 2009/59. It is a new qualification that all
HGV, coach and bus drivers will
need if they wish to drive professionally for a living.
Driver CPC has 3 main objectives.
1, improve road safety
2, Underpin and expand on existing driver knowledge and skills
3, Ensure new entrants have the required skills and knowledge.
Driver CPC is divided into two types.
Initial Driver CPC required for all new entrants requiring cat C1 or
C.
Periodic Driver CPC Required for all drivers who already have PCV/LGV
entitlement and wish
to continue to drive professionally.
Driver CPC Periodic Training
Periodic Driver CPC training courses are delivered by our chosen Jaupt
approved provider: Hunts International Training Services in Redditch Worcestershire.

Periodic Driver CPC training means completing 35 hours formal training over
a 5 year period. The best way to look at completing this training is undergo
7 hours (1 day) every year for the rest of your professional driving career.
That way you are spreading both the cost and time.
What 7 hour course you decide to do is entirely up to you as long as the course
is a minimum of 7 hours in duration and the course is JAUPT approved.
